WEEK 9 WORKAHOLINGIN’

WEEK 9 WAS LIT. HERE’S WHY:

Assignment: Revision Reflection

For this assignment, I chose to re-do my book poster that I didn’t think went too well the first time. I was upset that I didn’t do that good of a job at the poster for my I AM LEGEND book, so here is the re-done copy!

I really worked hard to make this assignment better, and after reading the whole book and finishing everything i think this cover for sure goes better with the theme of the book.

Assignment: Radio Show Reflection

I had SO much fun with the radio shows this week. I really enjoyed live tweeting during our show and seeing what people thought. I worked really hard creating all the bumpers and editing all the audio, so i’m really glad people on twitter took notice of the bumpers and editing that i did. I was really anxious about the project because i truly don’t like working in group projects, HOWEVER MY GROUP WAS FLIPPIN AWESOME. I loved working with everything because we all vibed really well and we all bounced our creativity off of each other. I think it was good to meet up with people from the class and do such a hands on project because it really impacted the way i want to keep doing my work. I also enjoyed listening to the show on tuesday. it was interesting to see what other people did with their show. All in all, this was probably one of my favorite weeks.

What’s one thing you definitely couldn’t live without during the apocalpyse?
How would you go about obtaining it?

I wouldn’t want to live without a gun (especially a m16 fun) because I would want to feel protected and I would want to be able to support my loved ones who are still alive.

This week I also enjoyed doing the daily creates! Here is what I came up with:

I like the look of your redone book cover! I think the font captures the intensity of the action well. It’s also interesting that the zombies are all looking at the reader/viewer. I know some of what happens at the end of the story, at least in the movie, so I think this is a good way to hint at it!

Creating bumpers was exciting, but more difficult than I thought it would be! It took me over an hour and a half to create a ten second bumper, mostly because I could not figure out how to record audio from my computer! It was definitely an awarding process though, and praise after hard work is always amazing. I’m also generally hesitant about group projects (I have had some horrible experiences), but I think all of the radio shows turned out great, and it sounds like nobody had a slacking team!

I thought your previous book cover for I am Legend was pretty cool with the fires in the back and the Text GIPHY’d onto the cover. But this one is just as cool, as I look at it I feel like the zombies are bearing down on me and I am able to get that one last picture with my phone, before they finish me off. I Always enjoy your work, so creative.

I love that bookcover! The shot of the mutants looking down is super effective. I might suggest playing with the white boxes around the text a little. Wonder what it would look like if they went all the way across — you know? Or if they had a black/gray border around them. It’s fun to look at bookcovers of bestsellers on Amazon and see how those covers are designed for inspiration, too.
