The END of the END.

It’s that time.

THE FINAL POST IS HERE AND WAITING FOR YOU.

Can you believe this is the end?! I’m shook! Here is what I did for my final project for DS106.

First of all, I loved radio week SO much that Jillian and I decided to team up together and do this project together. Our idea was to implement our story in a google Map but add additional information that our radio show did not cover. Our map traces the Survivors at Sunrise story of how we all met, where our cruise sailed, and how we found each other. In addition to this map, we also added commentary about each pin adding all different media. Jillian made a poster, and I recorded a song. The idea of my song came from my character Winston, who I created the story behind the ship. Her story was that the reason she was sailing on this cruise ship was because she was a performer on the cruise. I recorded a song of my playing an acoustic guitar song in the Pollard guitar as part of this final project- because i wanted it to seem like it was a link to Winston’s audition tape to continue the story from our radio show. Below is the Google map and the sound cloud link to my song!

The reason I decided to continue Winston’s story for the final project was because I wanted to wrap up the semester fully being extra creative and continuing (and somewhat) finishing off her story. I wish I could have worked more on creating this awesome character throughout the semester, but I think doing this final project was a good and classy goodbye for us to part. I totally loved the graphic Jillian made, and I think it went perfect with our Google Map! I think its super cool that we created this visual that could also correspond with our radio show.

If you guys don’t know the story behind the sunrise survivors, listen to our show and the map will totally make sense:

IDK WHAT WEEK IT IS I LOST COUNT

Ya’ll tbh i can’t keep up with what week it is. Is this 11? 12? 13? 20? WHO KNOWS. But the apocalypse has been wiping my brain of attempting to keep up with dates.

Anyways, this was a really fun week. I enjoyed doing many different projects regarding my novel I Am Legend.

I honestly really enjoyed this novel, and I think my assignments I did for stars this week can sort of prove that.

For this week I did these projects:

How to never fear again: REMIX A SONG W SPEECH

http://www.elainafinklestein.com/assignments/character-word-cloud-robert-neville/

http://www.elainafinklestein.com/assignments/playlist-poetry/

My favorite assignment I did was for sure without a DOUBT the music remix one. I literally spent hours working on it and I enjoyed the process because I am a music technology major. I worked on logic pro x to create the remix and I found the audio from YouTube!

If you haven’t heard it: check it out

QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Look to your right. The thing you see is the only weapon you’ll have during the End. How will you use it to survive?

To my right is a rock that is sharp at one side. I use the rock throughout the Apocalypse to help kill zombies with it lol

How to never fear again: REMIX A SONG W SPEECH

My theme song is a bit of a twist. I used logic pro x and garageband to create a beat, however in I Am Legend (the movie version of my book) Will Smith is the main character. There is this famous speech Will Smith gave that is this:

I used this speech embeded in my song to be more creepy and to put a twist on a narrative type of theme song for I Am Legend.

i edited beats within him speaking, and the goal was to make it creepy, but also fit the book.

I imagined this is the speech Robert Neville would give surviving the apocplse, which is why I decided to create a theme song type of remix on speech like this.

Check it out: it’s a bit long, but I think its cool:

Six stars of Video: Week 11

Hi friends! For week 11 I had a lot of fun creating videos. I did two assignments: the first one I did was the ‘Apocalypse Q&A’, and then I did the ‘Where do your shoes take you?’

My favorite assignment out of the two would be the shoe video because I actually had a ton of fun editing and filming my day. I work in Washington, DC so its safe to stay my shoes travel A LOT when i’m in the city. for this assignment I video’d my day taking the metro because literally that’s half my day! Check it out:

The second assignment, my apocalypse Q&A was also super fun. I wrote on snapchat for people to ask me questions, and I actually got some hilarious ones that I put in my video. This is my assignment:

What’s The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods?

For video week I was SUPER excited to do this project. The assignment is called What’s The Weather In Your Neck Of The Woods?

I am currently an intern at a news station up in Washington DC so I thought this project was the perfect fit for video week. I got to say the weather! I was a little bummed because I wanted to make it an Apocalypse themed weather update, but that would have been pretty awkward because i work with professionals and they totally would have thought i was super weird.

I hope you like my video! Enjoy 🙂

For video week!

WEEK 9 WORKAHOLINGIN’

WEEK 9 WAS LIT. HERE’S WHY:

Assignment: Revision Reflection

For this assignment, I chose to re-do my book poster that I didn’t think went too well the first time. I was upset that I didn’t do that good of a job at the poster for my I AM LEGEND book, so here is the re-done copy!

I really worked hard to make this assignment better, and after reading the whole book and finishing everything i think this cover for sure goes better with the theme of the book.

Assignment: Radio Show Reflection

I had SO much fun with the radio shows this week. I really enjoyed live tweeting during our show and seeing what people thought. I worked really hard creating all the bumpers and editing all the audio, so i’m really glad people on twitter took notice of the bumpers and editing that i did. I was really anxious about the project because i truly don’t like working in group projects, HOWEVER MY GROUP WAS FLIPPIN AWESOME. I loved working with everything because we all vibed really well and we all bounced our creativity off of each other. I think it was good to meet up with people from the class and do such a hands on project because it really impacted the way i want to keep doing my work. I also enjoyed listening to the show on tuesday. it was interesting to see what other people did with their show. All in all, this was probably one of my favorite weeks.

What’s one thing you definitely couldn’t live without during the apocalpyse?
How would you go about obtaining it?

I wouldn’t want to live without a gun (especially a m16 fun) because I would want to feel protected and I would want to be able to support my loved ones who are still alive.

This week I also enjoyed doing the daily creates! Here is what I came up with:

Our first recording!

I’M SO HYPE BECAUSE LAST NIGHT THE SURVIVORS AT SUNRISE CREW RECORDED PART OF OUR RADIO SHOW!

It went super well and we ended up spending a couple hours editing audio and recording our segments. We still have some more work to do, but so far we have 10 minutes worth of recording so i’m really happy about that. giphy

I’m really excited about our segments because they are really funny and truly show our sassy and creative side. We wanted to make segments that included people in the class, so for my segment I talked about four characters in our class! (So listen up if you wanna hear us gossip about your character). I’m really proud of the work we’ve done so far, and i can’t wait to finish it!
